I have always enjoyed travel, meeting new people and exploring new cultures. I found Peta Lowry on social media on English in Italia group and after communicating with her I felt confident that this teaching placement in her Teaching English in Italia programme was going to be a fantastic opportunity that I couldn't pass up. I have just come home from Teaching English in Montefiascone, an hour and a half from Rome and loved it. It was everything I hoped it to be and more. Peta not only created a great programme for residency participants and students but was always there answering any of my questions and helping me assimilate well into the community, culture and the coaching programme. I coached students from 4 years old to the over 60s and got to coach on a weekly basis in a castle that is over 1,000 years old! which was my most treasured memory. In my spare time I was able to visit so many wonderful places that most tourists don’t even know exists. I visited palaces and necropolis', archaeological sites and museums and on weekends I went on road trips with Peta to see the most amazing towns of Tuscia. I would highly recommend this programme to everyone and anyone who loves to travel, loves anything Italian or wants to experience another culture. Thank you, Peta, for the most amazing experience. I know I have made a lifelong friend and wonderful connections I will carry with me for the rest of my life. I will be back.

My life changed the day I received the email “Do you want to run away to Italy?” I joined Peta’s first residency in January -April 2025. It was my first time in Italy, and I did not speak Italian at all. Fast forward 3 months and I had the time of my life. Coaching English to a range of ages from 3 years old to 80 years old. My most rewarding lessons were ones with the adults where I could also learn about Italy and local places to visit. There were 3 participants and together we met the locals at the bar and were able to organise some day trips together. The excursions organised as part of the residency were fun, and educational and all based in the local Lazio area. Living in the medieval towns of Vitorchiano and Soriano nel Cimino allowed me to meet the locals and experience the slow life of Italy. I enjoyed the Italian lifestyle and experienced so much that I continued to stay in Italy for another few months. This experience has given me confidence to travel, an introduction to speaking Italian and also learning more about the English language. The friendships I have made will be with me forever. La dolce vita ❤️
