Italian Language & Culture Residency Program FAQ's:

| Program Details

1. What is the Italian Language & Culture Residency Program?
It is a 3-month cultural exchange and training program in the Province of Viterbo, Italy. Participants live in an Italian apartment, receive full training in our unique Direct Method English program, and provide 15 hours per week of English coaching as part of their certification pathway.

2. Is this a paid job or a volunteer position?
No. This is not a job and not a volunteer placement. You are applying for a Residency Program. As part of your training, you will complete 150 hours of hands-on English coaching, which is required to achieve the Direct Method English Coaching Certification.

  • You are not employed by English in Italia.

  • You are not volunteering.

  • You are participating in a Residency Program with defined responsibilities and benefits.

3. What certification will I receive?
On successful completion of training and the 150 coaching hours, you will receive the Direct Method English Language Coaching Certification, enabling you access to all of our coaching and student resources for starting your own coaching practice.


| Costs & Payments

4. What is the cost of the Residency?
The program fee is €2,500, which covers:

  • 3 months’ furnished accommodation in a medieval Italian village

  • Utilities (electricity, gas, water, WiFi)

  • Full training in Direct Method English Coaching

  • Certification upon completion

  • Ongoing support and supervision

  • 3 (1 per month) full-day Italian Cultural experiences (wine & olive oil tasting / cooking class / buffalo mozzarella factory visit / ceramics class / etc.)

A refundable €500 security deposit is also required.

5. Are participants paid during the Residency?
No. This is a training and cultural Residency Program, not a paid teaching job. The program fee you pay covers your accommodation, training, and certification. The 150 hours of coaching are part of your professional development pathway, not employment.


| Travel & Visas

6. Do I need a visa?
Visa requirements depend on your nationality. We provide a Confirmation of Participation Letter to assist with your visa application or entry to Italy. However, obtaining the correct visa is your responsibility.

7. What is included in the Residency fee?

For your investment of €2,500 (plus a €500 fully-refundable security deposit) you get:

  • 3-months shared accommodation in an Italian style apartment in a
    medieval town with all utilities and access to fixed internet in both
    the apartment and English centres (value €4,500)
  • Training in our unique Direct Method English Language Coaching
    Program (value €1,000)
  • A total of 150 hours hands-on coaching and experience in delivering
    our Direct Method English Language Coaching Program (value €1,500)
  • Training and coaching on how to establish your own online English
    language coaching business (value €1,500)
  • 3 full-day Italian cultural excursions (1 per month) to experience and
    meet small, unique Italian businesses run by Italian entrepreneurs,
    like wineries, olive oil producers, ceramic artists, buffalo mozzarella
    producers, chocolate makers, cooking classes, etc. (value €450)

Plus on successful completion of your Residency Program you will receive an English in Italia Direct Method English Coaching certification and access to all program student and teacher resources and support materials (value €2,500).

| Accommodation & Living

8. What is included in the accommodation?
Fully furnished apartment with bed, wardrobe, kitchen, utilities, WiFi, and basic linen.

9. Will I have free time?
Yes! With only 15 hours per week of coaching, you will have plenty of time to explore Italy.


| Coaching & Training

10. Do I need any coaching or teaching experience?
No. Full training is provided in the first week and ongoing support and assistance during the entire program.

11. What is the dress code for coaching?
Smart casual (white, red, blue, or black tops with jeans/trousers/skirt).
